You've Been Playing Uno Wrong Your Whole Life And Here's Why

2 min read

Uno is possibly the funnest / easiest / most versatile card game ever.

It’s appropriate for all situations.

Whip it out at your niece’s fifth birthday party, while having tea and biccies with Nana, over a few bottles of vino while camping - the possibilities are endless.

But we’re about to drop a truth bomb which we really hope doesn’t ruin your day: you’ve been playing Uno wrong your whole life.

At least, that’s what Uno just told us.

Taking to their official Twitter today, Uno released a statement clarifying a certain ~rule~ that is just not a-okay in their official book.

So there you have it.

Go show this to the little brother who’s always skipping out on a Draw 4 by slappin’ down a Draw 2. He’s wrong. Official rules trump house rules, mate.

The internet is not happy about being schooled on their fave card game.

People are reacting to the post with everything from denial to fightin' words.

And just to put more salt in your tea, here’s a reminder that you can’t play a Draw 4 card if you have other cards with the same colour as the one in play.

“If you play this card illegally, you may be challenged by the other player to show your hand to him/her. If guilty, you need to draw 4 cards. If not, the challenger needs to draw 6 cards instead. If turned up at the beginning of play, return this card to the Draw pile, shuffle, and turn up a new one,” the rules state.

It’s the official rules. Look it up, Jarrod.
