Vanessa Hudgens reveals her secret to dealing with anxiety
“It helps keep myself calm and relaxed”
As beyondblue put it, people with generalised anxiety disorders “feel anxious and worried most of the time, not just in specific stressful situations, and these worries are intense, persistent and interfere with their normal lives.”
Now, while the experience of living with anxiety can be pretty varied for different people, there are certain circumstances that tend to trigger a lot of people.
And one of those is large crowds.
Twenty-nine-year-old actress Vanessa Hudgens has spoken about dealing with feelings of anxiety a couple of times throughout her time in the public eye and most recently, has shared how she manages being around large crowds during an interview with HelloGiggles.
The Spring Breakers star told the website that heading to large festivals like Coachella often leaves her feeling anxious, so she uses essential oils to assist with that:
“There's a lot of people [at Coachella] and that gives me anxiety,” she shared.
“It [essential oils] helps keep myself calm and relaxed.”
She also revealed that she always tries to make sure she has a little space to herself by bringing a tapestry to sit on:
“I love having space and it’s hard when you’re crammed in with a bunch of people, so I like putting out a tapestry and then setting all my stuff down,” she said.
“You can claim your space and then can actually have room to dance, which is nice.”
While it’s always encouraging to see celebrities being open about mental health and working to reduce the stigma of the conversation, it is always important to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all approach, here. These methods may work for Hudgens (and they could work for you, too!) but if you’re experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, it’s always worth having a chat to see what will work best for you.
