Everything You Need To Know About Taylor Swift’s New Album ‘Lover’

It’s the announcement that might’ve actually broken Instagram: Taylor Swift has a new album coming out August 23.

After making peace with former frenemy Katy Perry this week, Taylor took to Instagram live to reveal a LOT of details about her upcoming 7th album Lover.

As well as sharing the album cover, Taylor revealed that the follow up to reputation contains 18 songs - making it her longest album to date.

“This album, in tone, it's very romantic and not just simply thematically, like it's all love songs or something,” Taylor told fans.

"I think the idea of something being romantic, it doesn't have to be a happy song. I think you can find romance in loneliness or sadness or going through a conflict or dealing with things in your life. I think it just kind of looks at those things with a very romantic gaze."

While she hasn’t (yet) revealed a collaboration with Katy Perry, Taylor announced that she’s dropping a new single today titled You Need To Calm Down with the music video premiering Monday June 17.

"I wanted you to hear the song first, then see the video,” she said on Instagram, “Because the video is very worth the wait. There's a lot going on in the video, so I wanted that to be a separate discovery.”

Nova will be premiering the song today at 2pm AEST!

But that’s not all!

Four different deluxe versions of the album are available to pre-order now including bonus audio memos from songwriting sessions, merch and other ‘exclusive content from Taylor’.

Alongside ‘kaleidoscope’ and ‘home’, fans first had theories that the album was titled ‘lover’ after spotting the word hidden in the music video for her lead single ME!.
