Woman Dies After Falling From Popular Coastal Selfie Spot In Sydney
Our thoughts are with her friends and family.
A woman has tragically died after falling from the cliffs at Sydney’s Diamond Bay this morning.
According to The Guardian, a spokesperson for the NSW Police told press that emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 11.20 this morning.
Emergency services commenced a rescue operation and a rescue officer reportedly attempted to perform CPR on the victim. Sadly, the woman died at the scene.
The victim is believed to be a 27-year-old woman from Sydney, but police are yet to release and official statement or official identify the woman.
The cause of the incident is still being investigated by authorities, but it is currently believed to be “misadventure”. Meaning the woman was possibly climbing on an unsafe and insecure part of the cliff.
Witnesses at the scene told police that the woman appeared to be taking selfies before she fell.
Diamond Bay is a beautiful location popular among locals and travellers for photo opportunities. Thrill-seekers often risk their safety for a good picture.
Earlier this year, the Waverley City Council passed a motion to look into preventative measures to minimise incidents in the area.
