Serial Killer Found Guilty Of Murdering Ashton Kutcher’s One-Time Date
Guilty as charged.
Michael Gargiulo, dubbed the “Hollywood Ripper”, was found guilty of violent killings of two women, including Ashton Kutcher’s acquaintance Ashley Ellerin.
The 43-year-old accused was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of Ashley and Maria Bruno, as well as the attempted murder of Michelle Murphy. Gargiulo was reportedly a neighbour of each victim when the attacks, which occurred between 2001 and2008, happened.
The former That ‘70s Show star testified to the jury earlier this year that he had gone to 22-year-old Ellerin’s house to pick her up for their date but received no response.
“I knocked on the door and there was no answer. I knocked again, and once again, no answer. At this point I pretty well assumed she had left for the night, and that I was late, and she was upset.”
According to CBS Los Angeles, Ashton recalled looking through the window and saw what he thought was spilled red wine on the carpet. He said he wasn’t rattled at the time, noting that he had attended Ellerin’s housewarming party a few days prior.
Remember the ill-fated night, he told the court:
“I saw what I thought was red wine spilt on the carpet. I wasn’t alarmed because I’d just been at the house-warming party at her house and that was kind of a college party,”“I tried the front door knob and it was locked,”“I remember the next day after I heard about what happened, I went to the detectives and said, ‘My fingerprints are on the door’. I was freaking out.”
Ellerin was reportedly getting ready to go on a first date with Kutcher when Gargiulo allegedly gained access to Ellerin’s property and stabbed her 47 times.
The New York Post reports that the alleged serial killer could potentially face the death penalty, with the final stages of the trial to occur later on this month.
