Virgin America

People are pretty damn sad about it too!

One of the most popular airlines has taken its last flight and no one even knew it was closing down!

Virgin America has been credited as one of the US’ favourite airlines, and today took its last flight. The airline has been taken over by Alaska Air in a $A3.4 billion deal.

The final flights departed San Francisco at 9:30pm and Los Angeles at 9:32pm.

Alaska Airlines revealed they had big plans for the final two flights:

“We’re planning to delight our guests flying on these last two flights with a few surprises.”

It’s believed that a special in-flight safety video performance was organised as well.

One flight attendant known on Instagram as @_highly_blessed wrote:

“’Thank you for flying with Virgin America! We hoped you enjoyed your experience. And look forward to seeing you again soon!’ As I just worked my LAST First Class & service for VX & recited those words, it finally started to get real!

“The last 4years of my life has been nothing less, than surreal. Ive been truly blessed & honored to travel the friendly skies, with such fabulous crews. Today is bittersweet as we ALL had to say Goodbye to Virgin America, but our dopeness will still remain!! We will always be the ‘Best Airline on the West Coast’; sexy, bomb FA’s & the original ‘Soul Plane’ w/ mood lighting.

“Ohh.. and how can I forget, the most popular Safety Video ever in the industry!! VX you’ll truly be missed.”

Fans of the airline took to social media to share their sadness:

Unlike a lot of other airlines, it seems Virgin America will be greatly missed!
