Nick Kyrgios Lands Hefty Fine After Explosive Outburst At The Umpire
"You're a f***ing tool bro."
Nick Kyrgios has landed in hot water again after verbally abusing chair umpire Fergus Murphy during a match at the Cincinnati Masters.
The 24-year-old lost to Russian opponent Karen Khachanov while dealing with foot and ankle issues however, it's was his profanity and outburst that is making headlines.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports Nick unleashed on Umpire Fergus calling him a "potato", a "disgrace" and the "worst ref in the world".
Fergus responded by giving him a point violation which led Nick to ask for a toilet break. Cameras followed the Aussie tennis star, catching him break two rackets before returning to the court.
But the action didn't stop there.
After shaking hands with his opponent, Nick is heard saying to Fergus "you're a f***ing tool bro" before spitting in his direction.
The Association of Tennis Professionals has since fined Nick $167,000. The publication reports the fines included five charges of unsportsmanlike conduct totalling $US85,000 in addition to $US20,000 for verbal abuse, $US5,000 for audible obscenity and $US3,000 for leaving the court.
"In addition to the on-site fines, the ATP is looking further into what happened during and immediately after the match to see if additional action is warranted," said an ATP statement.
The world number 27 lost 6-7 (3/7), 7-6 (7/4), 6-2 to Khachanov on Wednesday night.
