Man Dies After Scaffolding Collapses At Macquarie Park
In breaking news, one man has died and another is critically injured after an incident at a construction site in Macquarie Park.
Emergency services were called to the site at Epping Road at about 12:20pm today after scaffolding and concrete collapsed, trapping two workers.
One worker died at the scene and another man has been taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.
ABC reports eight ambulances plus police and fire and rescue crews and the Care Flight helicopter were at the scene.
NSW Ambulance Acting Inspector Steven Vaughan told the ABC that emergency workers arrived at a "chaotic and emotionally-charged scene".
"It took some time to ascertain what had happened.
"They were able to treat and stabilise one of those patients who has since been transported to Royal North Shore in a critical condition."
NSW Police say a crime scene has been established and the incident will be investigated by police from Ryde Police Area Command and SafeWork NSW officials.
