High-Rise Swimming Pool Cops Backlash And We Can Kinda See Why

Yeah... Nah.

Plans to build a rooftop infinity pool with 360-degree views of the London skyline have rocked Twitter.

Images showing the breath-defying, vertigo-inducing design - it'd sit atop a 55-story building - were unveiled by Compass Pools and gained traction in the online world via a CNN article.

And while the world-first design is undeniably a looker, Twitter has hit out at the concept likening it's presentation to a little game we know and love (to kill digital characters in), The Sims.

The company's website has actually explained the feature, detailing a spiral staircase that rotates and rises to provide access.

"The solution is based on the door of a submarine, coupled with a rotating spiral staircase which rises from the pool floor when someone wants to get in or out -- the absolute cutting edge of swimming pool and building design and a little bit James Bond to boot!" pool designer and technical director Alex Kemsley in an interview on the company's website.

Twitter users also pointed out the rates of homelessness in London and housing affordability issues in response to the design:

Oh, and there's also the whole 'people inside look up at you' thing:

Construction of the pool could begin in 2020 if partners and contractors are confirmed.
