Burger King Release ‘Unhappy Meals’ Throwing Serious Shade At Macca’s

1 min read

Burger King just unveiled a new meal range dubbed ‘Real Meals’, which reflect different moods.

Unhappy moods.

But also, could the American fast-food chain (which goes by Hungry Jacks in Australia) be throwing shade at Macca’s?

As much as we love a little bit of shade (have you seen Wendy’s Twitter account? Straight fire), it appears this isn’t the case here.

The ‘Real Meals’ campaign is actually designed to raise awareness about mental health.

The idea behind the campaign is to convey the idea that “no one is happy all the time”, encouraging customers to celebrate “being yourself” and feeling “however you want to feel”.

The new options are inspired by a selection of different moods, and include the Pissed Meal, Blue Meal, Salty Meal, YAAAS Meal and DGAF Meal.

‘Happy’ is not one of the choices.

Burger Kings around the States have aligned with the US’s Mental Health Awareness Month, releasing the range throughout the month of May to let customers know it’s okay not to be okay.

The promotion also includes a partnership with Mental Health America, a community-based, non-profit organisation which helps those with mental illness.

We love this idea, could someone @ Macca’s Australia?

If you or anyone you know is struggling with mental health, help is available.
