If ice cream is love, then ice cream cake is heaven.
But a popular brand of ice cream cake has forsaken us* and has been recalled due to safety concerns.
The Bulla Ready To Decorate Ice Cream Cake Base which is sold nationally by Woolworths and IGA has been deemed a “food safety hazard”.
The NSW Food Authority told the company Regal Cream Products, which trades as Bulla Dairy Foods, to recall the product because of an undeclared presence of soy
The recall relates to the 1.5-litre cake with a best before date of 24/03/2021.
“This is a food safety issue and anyone concerned about their health should seek medical advice,” the food authority said.
“Any consumers who have a soy allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed.”
Those who have bought the cake can return to the store of purchase for a full refund.
*Well, it’s not really the ice cream cake’s fault but we’re still devo - think of all the ice cream going to waste!
Allan Hood, Chief Executive Officer of Bulla Dairy Foods, has provided Nova with the following statement reharding the recall:
“The safety and wellbeing of our customers is our number one priority and we are working closely with our team to ensure this product is recalled quickly and efficiently through our distribution channels, together with investigating the cause of the labelling issue”.
