The search for a three-year-old Queensland girl has tragically come to a close this week with updates coming in that she has been found dead.
The ABC reports that close to 200 people got involved in the search for the young girl who was last seen at approximately 3:30 pm on Monday in Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
She was located by police divers close to midnight in a dam about 150 metres from her home.
Police Superintendent Daryl Johnson gave a statement on the horrific incident, the ABC shares:
"One of the great things about our community on the Sunshine Coast is that in times of need people come out and help. So that was fantastic to see in really tragic circumstances," he said.
"Searches in the dark are always more difficult with limited light and our divers were deployed and sadly found the little one just after midnight.
"Police have been in constant contact with the family and we will make certain they get the support that they need at this time.
"Our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends. It is a really sad, tragic incident and we're really saddened by it."
The little girl is said to have been watching television in her family home on Monday afternoon before her mother noticed she had disappeared. The family's home is set on a set on a five-acre property.
Investigations continue regarding her death.
