Will Smith Set To Play Famous Father And We're All For It
This will be great!
Will Smith is reportedly taking on the role of Serena and Venus Williams‘ father in a new movie.
The 50-year-old actor will play Richard Williams in a upcoming film titled King Richard, according to Deadline.
The spec script, written by Zach Baylin, reportedly follows the Williams family as Serena and Venus grew to be two of the greatest tennis players in the world.
The story looks at how Richard overcame tremendous hardship, skepticism and his own troubled past to raise his girls. Despite having no tennis background Richard drew up a 78-page plan for their professional tennis careers when they were just at the age of four.
He then began giving them tennis lessons and the girls learned the game on cracked, weedy public courts in Compton, reportedly after their father brawled with young toughs who were not fans of the sport and would not make way.
Tim White and Trevor White are set to produce under their Star Thrower Entertainment banner alongside Will‘s Overbrook Entertainment banner.
