Tati Westbrook Takes YouTube Hiatus After Annihilating James Charles' Career
YouTube drama entered the real world this week as 19-year-old James Charles lost millions and millions of followers following the airy of dirty laundry by Tati Westbrook.
Tati, one of YouTube’s original beauty content creators, publicly ended her friend/mentorship with James in a 43-minute long video entitled Bye Sister.
Since that time, influencers and celebrities alike have distanced themselves from James including former friends and collaborators like Jeffree Star and Kylie Jenner.
James is reportedly in hiding, his whereabouts unknown (his last public appearance was in Australia) but Tati, while maintaining a respectful distance, has not removed herself entirely.
The 37-year-old took to Twitter to explain:
"There won't be a video tomorrow," she announced.
"My heart is still too heavy. I feel like I need to remind you that we can hold truth & inspire change without grabbing onto hate.
"Honor your blessings. Don't abuse them.
"Celebrating pain will only bring it to your door."
For those who didn't catch the news the first time 'round, Tati revealed in the 'Bye Sister' video that she and her husband had invested a lot of energy and time into James and his career and that she was disappointed in his behaviour.
"You are using your fame, power and money to play with people’s emotions. You’re threatening to ruin them and embarrass them, and you’re doing that to have them behave sexually in your favour even if they’re straight?" she accused.
"That behaviour is not okay if you’re a woman a man, gay, straight, bi, whatever sexual orientation you are, that is your personal call and it is not someone else’s to take, not someone else’s to play with."
Since the release, James' subscriber count, once 16 million, has been plummeting.
At time of writing, he has dropped more than three million subscribers, sitting close to 13 million. Tati, on the other hand, has gained almost two million.
