Riverdale Shuts Down Production After News Of Luke Perry's Death
Fans are wondering what will happen to his beloved character Fred.
Family and friends are mourning the death of beloved actor Luke Perry today after he suffered from a stroke a couple days ago.
His colleagues on the set of Riverdale and fans of the series have come to know and love the actor as the caring Fred Andrews, father of Archie.
Even though we won't have to say goodbye to Fred just yet with the rest of season 3 ahead of us and Perry having filmed some scenes before his death, fans are wondering what will happen.
Shortly after the news of Luke's death went public, Variety reported that Riverdale has shut down their production. Producers have not revealed how long production will be on hold for, and how this will affect the rest of the season three schedule. But it is presumed Perry will most likely have to be written off somehow to explain his sudden disappearance during season 3.
The series' executive producers, Warner Bros. Television and the CW also issued a statement regarding the actor's death:
“We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the ‘Riverdale,’ Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”
