Olivia Colman’s Real Name Isn’t Olivia Colman And Wait, What?

1 min read

Shook to our core.

You might not know her name (don’t worry, it’s not important anyway- but we’re getting to that) but you definitely know her face- Olivia Colman.

Olivia is one of Hollywood’s best stars and for good reason.

Not only is she a kickarse award-winning actress who has starred in movies like The Favourite (which she won Best Actress for) and TV shows like The Crown, but she’s known for being a blubbering mess on stage and we love her for it.

So loveable! So relatable! She’s the best.

She’s also officially confused us all, because it turns out Olivia’s real name isn’t actually Olivia. Her last name isn’t even Colman. It’s all been a lie.

Let us explain.

Olivia (or whatever her name is) has been honoured on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list which is pretty cool.

On the list, her name is recorded as: 'Oscar winning actress Sarah Sinclair (Olivia Colman)’.

So her name is Sarah. Which is super far from Olivia so how the hell is she known as Olivia?

Well, her full maiden name is Sarah Caroline Olivia Colman, and she became Sarah Sinclair after marrying actor Ed Sinclair in 2001.

We still don’t understand why she goes by Olivia but it mainly makes sense. Unfortunately, it’s doesn’t change the fact that we still feel very confused and confronted by this new piece of information. And we're not the only ones:
