Nicole Kidman reveals her true feelings about her children's Scientology beliefs
"I'm [normally] very private about all that."
Nicole Kidman usually doesn't talk about her private life and prefers to let her acting do all the talking.
But in a rare move, the Aussie actress has now opened up about her two older children (whom she adopted back when she was still married to Tom Cruise) and their Scientology beliefs.
Speaking to Who Magazine (via PEOPLE) Nicole admitted that she's normally very private about her personal life but spoke quite candidly about accepting and loving her older children - Bella, 25, and Connor, 23 - regardless of what they practice.
“I’m [normally] very private about all that. I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150% that I would give up my life for my children because it’s what my purpose is.
“They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them.”
Nicole's comments about loving her children no matter are particularly powerful right now because she is currently promoting her latest film, Boy Erased, which tells the story of a mother struggling with her child being sent to gay conversion therapy.
“I am an example of that tolerance and that’s what I believe – that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I’m open here.
“I think that’s so important because if that is taken away from a child, to sever that in any child, in any relationship, in any family – I believe it’s wrong. So that’s our job as a parent, to always offer unconditional love.”
Sorry, gotta go wipe away our tears.
Instead of just being one of our favourite Aussie stars, can you also be our mum, Nicole?
