Nick Jonas Reveals The Real Reason The Jonas Brothers Split
"I feared that... they would never speak to me again."
When the Jonas Brothers split in 2013 just before they were slated to go on tour, fans were left scratching their heads.
Why did the brothers disband? Was everything okay between Nick, Joe and Kevin?
In a candid interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the three JoBros shared intimate details of their breakup, with Nick revealing that he feared their relationship would be irreparably damaged.
"I feared that, you know, they would never speak to me again," Nick said, while Joe added that, at the time, he was convinced that there was "going to be no more brothers, ever.”
Nick admitted he was the one to suggest they end the band:
"I had a very tough conversation with them where I laid it out for them," Nick revealed. "I said, 'I feel like the Jonas Brothers should be no more, and we should go on individual journeys.' Didn't go so well.”
He added: "It was a tough conversation. It was the first time we really had that real conversation. It was a few days of working through it."
When the band first revealed their plans to split, reports attributed the breakup to low ticket sales and creative differences. But Nick explained on CBS Sunday Morning that "to call it creative differences is almost too simple."
"I think a lot of people lost the appetite for what we were putting into the world," he elaborated.
"We were putting up shows that weren't selling. We were making music that I don't think we were all super-proud of, and it wasn't connected."
Joe added that he “absolutely” believed the band was finished forever, explaining that he was "checked out in my mind - that was it. There was going to be no more brothers, ever."
Nick revealed that “it took a couple [sic] months of tricky conversations and navigating all that for us to be able to reconnect, just as family again."
