A New Game Of Thrones Theory Is Giving Everyone Hope For The Battle Of Winterfell
We hope this is true!
We don't know about you, but lately, our lives have been all about avoiding Avengers: Endgame spoilers and reading theories about what will happen in the next episode of Game Of Thrones.
While most of the GoT theories seem to be more on the side of our favourite characters losing the Battle of Winterfell, a new one is giving us some much needed hope.
So, one theory that was going nuts this last week was that putting all the vulnerable people of Winterfell in the crypts would be a huge mistake because the Night King could simply bring the dead Starks back to life and use them on his side of the war.
However, a New York professor and GoT fan, Stephen Attewell, has a theory that has us excited.
Attewell wrote on Tumblr:
"I don’t think the Starks of ages past, so focused on the coming of winter, buried their dead with iron swords because they were stupid men.
"If anything, I think the Winterfell crypts are GRRM’s spin on the Dead Men of Dunharrow."
The Dead Men of Dunharrow refers to an undead army who fight on the heroes' side in Lord of the Rings.
Buzzfeed reports that while Ned, Robb and Catelyn Stark aren't in the crypts, there are generations of dead Starks who are down there and they're buried with iron swords to ward off evil spirits.
So, who knows what will happen, but we're more than ready to find out!
