MAFS’ Nic Reveals That His Cancer Has Returned

"I just thought, 'Surely not?'”

We watched Nic open up about his battle with cancer to his on-screen wife Cyrell in a heartbreaking episode of Married At First Sight.

However, we never expected to find out that his cancer has returned.

In an exclusive interview with TV WEEK, Nic revealed that he found a lump on one of his testicles just a few months after the series wrapped.

"I just thought, 'Surely not?'

"I was having a shower at Christmas and found a little lump on my testicle. I didn't want to take any risks – especially after what I'd been through already – so I booked in and was referred to a specialist.”

The doctor confirmed it was cancer and Nic had surgery to remove the testicle, along with two rounds of chemotherapy.

"I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

"It's exhausting. You don't want to get it once – let alone twice.

"But there's always somebody worse off out there. If I can help and get one person to go and get checked and save their life, then job done."

Nic is now in remission and no longer requires chemotherapy. However, he has found dealing with the repercussions of reality television difficult during this time.

"I know whatever I'm going through has nothing to do with our relationship and the show, but it's disappointing.

"I've got enough to deal with. After chemo, I was exhausted; my body was shutting down. It was just crap. And I've had to deal with [Cyrell] and try to keep her calm. But what do you do?"
