"It’s been a heartbreaking few days. This is what’s left of my house. Love."

The California wildfire death toll has climbed to 42 with that number expected to rise. There are still 200 people missing and the fire is only about 30 percent contained having already burnt through 125,000 acres.

Over 300,000 people have had to flee from their homes to remain safe, with many losing their homes completely.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are amongst those along with Gerard Butler, Robin Thicke, Neil Young and Camille Grammer.

Hemsworth shared a heart-wrenching photo of their home completely destroyed, left as rubble and ashes.

However, the actor found paving slabs that spelled out 'L.O.V.E'

"It’s been a heartbreaking few days. This is what’s left of my house. Love."

Cyrus and her fiance Hemsworth have donated $500,000 to help rebuild Malibu after their home was destroyed by the devastating Woolsey wildfire.

The pair announced the funds would benefit The Malibu Foundation via The Happy Hippie Foundation, Cyrus' charity which focuses on homelessness among LGBTQ youth.

The couple's representative said in a statement:

“Miley and Liam lost their home but are very grateful to be safe along with their animals!

"Their community and state are very special to them and they want to give back to the place that has created so many beautiful memories for themselves and others.

"They are donating $500,000 to The Malibu Foundation through Miley‘s charity, Happy Hippie, in hopes to restore Malibu’s magic. These funds will be used for those in financial need, emergency relief assistance, community rebuilding, wildfire prevention and climate change resilience. Those looking to get involved, your time, support and donations are greatly appreciated."

It comes after Cyrus shared a heartbreaking message on Twitter:

We are sending all our love to those affected by the California wildfire. You can donate to the Malibu Foundation here.
