Liam Hemsworth Hits Out At 'False' News Over Miley Cyrus Split

His post was accompanied by a sunset.

News broke over the weekend that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth had split eight months after their Christmas wedding. A representative for Miley confirmed the news, telling E!:

"Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers."

Since then, Miley has been spotted living it UP overseas with Brody Jenner's ex Kaitlynn Carter as Liam has been, kinda quiet.

Daily Mail Australia reported that while in Byron Bay with his brother Chris, Liam said, "You don't understand what it's like" and "I don't want to talk about it mate," when confronted at a frozen yoghurt shop.

But it turns out that isn't quite right.

Since then, Liam has released a statement via Instagram to the contrary:

"Hi all," he began.

"Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.  This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love."

Numerous comments have praised Liam for handling the situation "like a gentleman".

And you know what?

One hundred per cent agree.
