Lady Gaga reacts to her Oscar noms and Bradley Cooper’s snub in the best way
Did we really expect anything less?
ICYMI: The Oscar nominations are out and trust us when we say it’s going to be pretty damn hard to choose which picture/actor/actress will take home that Golden Statuette – the nominees are all amazing!
But, if there’s one person who, let’s face it, we’re all rooting for - it has to be Lady Gaga.
The singer is nominated for ‘Best Actress’ in ‘ A Star Is Born’ and ‘Best Song’ with ‘Shallow’ and when the mega-babe didn’t rush to respond to the news, it was a little confusing – right?
Well, for those of you who are a little curious *cough* us *cough*… It turns out she was actually asleep!
Yep! In an interview with the New York Times, Lady Gaga revealed that she slept through the announcement and found out 3 hours after the rest of the world:
“I’ve been trying to get some sleep because I’m on showbiz time” – she told the paper.
“I woke up around 8:30 and I didn’t know anything about it” – she added.
The publication also revealed that Gaga’s manager broke the news to her and she, like anyone who just got nominated for two Oscars, burst into tears.
“These are not Oscar nominations for me, these are Oscar nominations for the Germanottas. I come from an Italian-immigrant family, and this feels like a very big win for them. This film was a lot of hard work, and I wouldn’t know that hard work if I didn’t know the hard work of the lineage of my family” – she told the publication.
“To be recognized as the lead actress and a musician at the same time, I can’t tell you what that means to me”- the singer added.
We know what you’re thinking… Isn’t she the cutest?
And as for her reaction to BFF Bradley Cooper missing out on a nod for Best Director? Lady Gaga spoke nothing but sweet words about her co-star to the LA Times:
“Well, you know, you never know what’s going to happen. But at the end of the day, he knows that he’s the best director in my eyes, and in all of our eyes as his cast" - she said.
I know that he’s so happy that we’ve all been nominated and that the film was recognized and we all feel really, really beyond elated for the recognition" - she continued.
Let’s face it, if there’s one thing we need in our lives, it’s a friendship like that!
