Kim Kardashian Opens Up About Kanye West's Mental Health

"We can definitely feel episodes coming…”

Kanye West is known for his controversial comments and his surprise rants with some fans laughing them off. But in 2017, the rapper was clinically diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

When his episodes occur people often look to Kim Kardashian for a reaction. Now, the reality star has spoken to Vogue on how she feels with the media and the public's response to her husbands episodes.

“It is an emotional process, for sure.

“Right now everything is really calm. But we can definitely feel episodes coming, and we know how to handle them.”

Speculation over West's mental illness grew particularly after he was hospitalised for a “psychiatric emergency” in November 2016 after canceling his Saint Pablo tour.

The rapper confirmed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder last summer with the release of his album Ye with the cover reading: “I Hate Being Bipolar. It’s Awesome”.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star reveals the medication West uses for his bipolar disorder "is not working".

“For him, being on medication is not really an option, because it just changes who he is.

“Traveling a lot does set it off, so he doesn’t travel as much as he used to.”

As for the criticism she constantly receives over West's actions, she feels hurt:

“I think some of the hurtful things that I read online: ‘What is she doing? She’s not stopping him…’ Like it’s my fault if he does or says something that they don’t agree with? That’s my husband. I share every opinion that I have and let him know when I think something’s wrong. Or if it comes to him being in the middle of a bipolar episode, I’ll do everything to be supportive and help to calm the situation.”

One of the biggest hurdles Kim has come across with the rapper was when West took a strong political stand for Donald Trump:

“I can be sitting there crying: OH, MY GOD! TAKE OFF THE RED HAT! Because he really is the sweetest person with the biggest heart. I stopped caring, though. Because I used to care so much. I was making it such an issue in our relationship. And in my life. It gave me so much anxiety”
