Justin Bieber Absolutely Slammed For "Insensitive" April Fools’ Joke

“Good job being an awful human being…”

Justin Bieber played the lot of us this morning when he posted a sonogram on Instagram for April Fools' Day with no caption. Understandably, we all assumed wife Hailey Bieber was pregnant.

Then he uploaded a picture of Hailey appearing to have her stomach scanned with the caption:

"If U thought it was April fools."

If U thought it was April fools

A post shared by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on

Hailey was quick to comment on the original upload with, "Very funny... " so now the internet is very aware it was all in the name of harmless fun. Celebrities like Ariana Grande, Ellen DeGeneres and talent manager Scooter Braun got around the joke:

However, this doesn't mean everyone's laughing.

Many social media users were quick to point out that joking about pregnancy is "insensitive". Followers were quick to remind JB that many women have or are struggling with conceiving or have lost their children.

“Of course justin bieber will think a pregnancy announcement would be funny on April fools. esp so when 1 in 7 women have had a miscarriage. not to mention those suffering from infertility,” wrote one Twitter user.

A number of statistics were shared throughout the Twitterverse and not only aimed at the Biebers.

@majesticlo wrote:

"I’ve already seen too many pregnancy April fools.. Although I personally was blessed to have had a safe and healthy pregnancy please be thoughtful for those who struggle. Pick a different prank today!"

While @maekelcie_ shared:

“1 in 4 women miscarry. 1 in 8 couples experience infertility. 1 in 160 pregnancies end in stillbirth,” they wrote. “Think before you prank on April Fools Day, because pregnancy is not a joke. Don’t degrade something so precious and valuable.”
