“I don’t want to be part of erasure”

Good Place actress Jameela Jamil has been turning heads and making headlines for some time now as a result of her campaign to change the way we see and talk about women's bodies (among other important things).

Recently she was applauded for tweeting that she hopes "all these celebrities all s**t their pants in public" for toting detox teas - and the unhealthy message they send.

Today, however, we're talking about Jamil because she has spoken out about the need to "make space" for authentic representation in Hollywood.

As The Huffington Post reports, Jamil turned down the role of a deaf woman, stating that she would prefer it go to a deaf actress, instead.

Jamil told the Press Association

“I said it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to take that role and they should find a brilliant deaf woman to play that role.”

“I think you have to make those choices and not be too greedy and make space rather than take space.

“I don’t want to be part of erasure.”
