The First Look At Cats The Movie Is Here And It's Purr-fect
Taylor Swift is literally living her cat dream.
Paws what you're doing. The Jellicles are on their way and frankly we cannot contain our excitement.
Cats is coming to our screens in December this year according to IMDB but a teaser has been dropped today to ease that wait.
Taylor Swift, who is playing Bombalurina, shared the snippet on Twitter reminiscing of her time in musical theatre:
"My first memories of performance go back to when I was in Pennsylvania growing up.
"My favorite thing was getting to be theatrical, to tell a story. And I’ve always brought that sort of narrative element to my live shows."
The cast is simply outstanding and we wouldn't expect anything less for Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical (based on T.S. Eliot's poem Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats).
Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella the Glamour Cat, stage and screen legend Ian McKellen as Gus the Theatre Cat, Tony winner James Corden as Bustopher Jones, Tony and Oscar winner Dame Judi Dench as Old Deuteronomy, Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots, Jason Derulo as Rum Tum Tugger, Robert Fairchild as Munkustrap, Mette Towley as Jemima, Idris Elba as Macavity, and Royal Ballet's Francesca Hayward and Steven McRae as Victoria and Skimbleshanks.
Fun fact: Judi was cast in the 1981 OG production of the musical but had to pull out due to an ankle injury.
"I thought that was my history with ‘Cats'
"But it turns out not to be."
IMDB says the film will tell the story a group of felines called the Jellicles, at the moment they must decide which of them is to be reborn.
The first trailer will be out this Friday and we are hanging out to see the technology to create a digital fur covering on hthe actors.
For all of you non-musical theatre geeks out there, we're sure you're wondering, what's a Jellicle cat? Well to put it plainly, Jellicles do and Jellicles can, Jellicles can and Jellicles do, Jellicle cats sing Jellicle chants, Jellicles old and Jellicles new. Does that help?
