The Downton Abbey Movie Trailer Is Here And It Is Glorious
We can't wait.
If you’ve been pining for your favourite period drama since Downton Abbey finished in 2015, then good news! Your wait is almost over.
’Cause the six-season series is picking up where it left off in a full-length feature film.
The first trailer for the Downton Abbey flick has been released and the show creator Julian Fellowes’ fingerprints are all over it. In fact, he’s returned to write the film's screenplay and co-produce, so you’re in good hands.
Nearly the entire cast of the original series returns for the movie, with the exception of Lily James, who played Lady Rose MacClare.
For those who forgot, here’s where the series left off.
It’s 1927, and Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham - played by Hugh Bonneville - receives a letter informing him the King and Queen are coming to visit.
To complicate matters, the final season signified the beginning of the end for the British aristocracy, and the film may delve into the ripple effect of the Wall Street financial crash of 1929.
How the royal visit will pan out, we can’t tell you. All we can say for certain is there will be drama, romance and fabulous costumes.
