Devastating news for Lady Gaga (and anyone with tickets to her show)
Last week our Mother Monster aka Lady Gaga revealed she suffers from fibromyalgia - a debilitating musculoskeletal disease - but it seems things are about to go from bad to worse.
The popular singer has revealed she’ll be postponing the European leg of her Joanne tour due to her illness.
It's gotten so bad that she's even been hospitalised.
According to Mayo Clinic, fibromyalgia is a disorder that is more likely to affect women and is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues.
Gaga originally shared her diagnosis ahead of her Netflix doco Gaga: Five Foot Two, debuting September 22 as the series will touch on her illness and struggles with chronic pain.
The disorder is also believed to amplifiy pain and affect the way the brain processes pain signals. There's no cure for the but medication like pain killers and anti-depressants can help control the symptoms.
Gaga also had to cancel a performance in Brazil a few days ago as she was hospitalised due to pain:
The condition has - understandably - affected her mental health. She posted a message about it today on Instagram.
“I have always been honest about my physical and mental health struggles,” she wrote.
“I use the word suffer not only because trauma and chronic pain have changed my life, but because they are keeping me from living a normal life.
They are also keeping me from what I love the most in the world: performing for my fans. I am looking forward to touring again soon, but I have to be with my doctors right now so I can be strong and perform for you all for the next 60 years or more. I love you so much.”
Stay strong Gaga!
