Ben Fordham finally address claims he'll be taking over for Karl Stefanovic

Rumours have been circulating for a hot minute now that Ben Fordham was being considered to replace Karl Stefanovic as a presenter on Channel Nine.

According to Daily Mail Australia, the 41-year-old was a top contender due to his family friendly image and "broad fanbase".

Well folks, Ben has finally broken his silence over the issue, telling The Daily Telegraph:

"I have no intentions of going back to Today. I had a great time on the show with Karl, Georgie and the team for many years but won't be returning any time soon."

He added that he had decided to prioritise family time with his journalist wife Jodie Speers and their two kids, Freddy and Pearl.

"I wake up with Jodie, Freddy and Pearl and that will continue for a long, long time," he added, referencing the Channel Nine show's tagline, 'I wake up with Today'.

The rumours were largely prompted following reports that Today's ratings have been struggling following Karl's split from wife Cassandra Thorburn in 2016 and Lisa Wilkinson's departure.

In fact, Channel Nine CEO Hugh Marks said in a statement last month:

"Clearly, it's been a tough and challenging year for Karl and Today," he said.

It would seem some changes will be coming to the program, but it looks like Ben Fordham won't be one of them.
