Beloved Doggo Cheddar From Brooklyn Nine-Nine Dies
The dog who played Cheddar on hit sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine has died.
The death of the 13-year-old corgi, whose real name was Stewart, was announced by his owner in a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday:
"My precious boy Stewart crossed the rainbow bridge today," he captioned an image of the pooch in a cart at the beach. "We went to the beach (his favourite place) where he frolicked in the surf and then enjoyed a picnic lunch at In & Out burgers."
The emotional tribute also revealed Stewart was put to sleep on the beach: "Our veterinarian met us there later and Stewart went to sleep peacefully in my arms while listening to the sounds of the ocean," the post continued.
"He was a one in a million kind of dog, he was my supaah staah."
Bosses at the network E4, which airs Brooklyn Nine-Nine in the U.K. also honoured the beloved pet.
"R.I.P Cheddar. You served the people of Brooklyn and the 99th Precinct with distinction," a statement posted to Twitter read. "You’ll be in our thoughts and our hearts forever."
Stewart portrayed the dog of 99th Police Precinct’s Commanding Officer Captain Holt, played by Andre Braugher. He was also featured as the ring bearer at the wedding Andy Samberg and Melissa Fumero's characters' wedding.
