Samantha Jade and Cyrus sing 'Hurt Anymore' in Nova's Red Room

SAMANTHA JADE CYRUS

The X Factor graduates performed their new duet, along with a version of a Christmas classic

‘Hurt Anymore’, written by Ian James, who penned Little Mix’s ‘Shout Out To My Ex’, blends Samantha Jade’s powerful vocals with Cyrus Villanueva’s soothing ones.

The song’s lyrics, “I don’t wanna feel like this / Hurt anymore”, are about breaking up – specifically making the decision to finish things.

Samantha said the track was about, "When you love someone because they have made a huge impact on your life but you’re not in love with them anymore so you have to make that decision to end it and leave."

The 29-year-old told news.com.au it was important for her to represent both sides of the story – the girl's and the guy's.

"I think there’s this perception that women hurt more at the end of a relationship; we get together have a wine and a cry about it. But men hurt too, just as much and I love how vulnerable Cyrus sounds on this."

The X Factor Australia alums performed the melodic song last month during the show's semi-final rounds, and then again in Nova's Red Room this past week.

While in the Red Room, the duo also got into the Christmas spirit, singing a version of 'O Holy Night', which showed off their amazing vocal talent.
